Hi folks,

I don't know if this is the correct place, or not, but I have Filemake 8.5 and have designed my own databases with it for years. I've always managed to find a way to do things but have now hit a brick wall.

I have database 1, which contains all the main data on projects.

I also have other databases linked to it so I can import full client details into the main one from the client database, etc

When I do letters, I hae always been able to auto-enter items I need into such as the recipient name and address without any problem.

Now, what I want to do is auto-enter items into a letter from the main database, but get the recipient address from another one. The recipient address is not on the main database and I can't work out how to link the two.

I've tried a drop-down box with all the addresses in but this only work on the top line of the address.

I don't know if this is clear, ,but can anyone help?

Cheers!

This topic has been moved from "FileMaker Product FamilyFileMaker LegacyFileMaker 8 and 8.5" to "Database Schema & Business LogicRelationships".

I moved it because the General Topic Areas are reserved for discussion about the Functions and Features unique to that version, and not for How-To questions.

Your question could fit into a couple of topic areas, but I moved it to Relationships, because it seemed to be a good starting point to what you are needing.

It might speed things up and help us understand what your problem might be if you were to attach a copy of your file (remove any confidential information, or delete the records and send us a no record clone).

When asking a question, it is always better to use the real names of things, such as your Tables, Layouts, Field Names, etc.

If you tried to attach a file, it didn't make it. The process is rather easy, if you follow these steps.

Step 1

Find the file on your hard drive, and zip it.

Step 2

Do not use the Quick Reply, BUT instead, choose the More Reply Option

Step 3

Click on Attached Files and this will take you to your hard drive to locate your file that you want to attach, and that you just zipped. Select the file, and then click Attach This File, and then click Add Reply.
