The problem: Arbitray disconnection of users from database with the standard "Communication with host interrupted....." message.

O/S: Windows NT 4.0 (SP6).

Filemaker Server ver 5.x.

Filemaker Pro ver 5.x.

Asante hub at 10T half duplex.

46 hosted databases.

Averages 28 Windows and 2 Mac users.

Installed new network card, recrimped all lines, NT running clean.

I am looking for any other solutions that may cause this to occur (software, hardware etc.).

This kept disconnecting one user or the other, plus it would disrupt and disconnect the entire server network.

Strange and disappointing that no one responed to me. I would have an answer in an hour in the MSDN world.

Sorry FM but you just don't have the technical support/B]

Honestly, how would this ever have been discovered by Filemaker tech support? This was an error in the configuration and not in anything with the software.

Just have to use the function:

Clairvoyance[user Question]

(We're not FMI? Wondered why I never get a paycheck! To paraphrase, sorry Rick you just don't have the right web site.)

"Clairvoyance[user Question]"

You know, I've tried to use that calculation in some of my solutions, but it just doesn't seem to work - must be a problem with the software...

...maybe I should go back to PowerBuilder - yeah, that'll do it...

I always wondered why the calc field value was wrong.. it was because it was the answer to the *next* question I had!

Funny how RickK hasn't come back innit?
