RET Posted August 16, 2001 Posted August 16, 2001 I would like to know if anyone knows how to connect FM pro 5.0 to FM pro 5.0. I saw this demonstrated once. You were able to specify the host ip address and this let the user into a hosted DB on another server thru my DSL connection. I have port 591 opened up and I can access this with-in my network. How can I setup this so I can access form home? RET
Anatoli Posted August 17, 2001 Posted August 17, 2001 WebCompanion is on port 80 or 591 and it is serving browsers only. FileMaker for (I guess) DAL ports: fmpro-fdal 2399/tcp FileMaker, Inc. - Data Access Layer fmpro-fdal 2399/udp FileMaker, Inc. - Data Access Layer FileMaker to FileMaker connection: fmpro-internal 5003/tcp FileMaker, Inc. - Proprietary transport fmpro-internal 5003/udp FileMaker, Inc. - Proprietary name binding HTH
RET Posted August 17, 2001 Author Posted August 17, 2001 Just so I understand I need to give this infomation to my DSL people? This is what I have already done. I have opened up port 5003 on this servers IP address. But I'm still not seeing FM from outside my network. Do I have to open any ports on the dsl I am accessing it from? I use have this setup for Web companion to work on port 591, but now I have changed this to access Fm to Fm using port 5003. Please Help! RET
DykstrL Posted August 17, 2001 Posted August 17, 2001 You need to open Ports 5003/tcp, 5003/udp, 2399/tcp, and 2399/udp both incoming an outgoing on your firewall. If you are going to do web stuff, you should also open port 591. Port 80 is probably already open.
RET Posted August 22, 2001 Author Posted August 22, 2001 Ok! Whoose! it worked! I'm sooo happy! But wait! I have another problem. I curently have a location in Sanfran, they have no trouble at all (earthlink DSL). I have tried from home, I have no trouble at all (earthlink DSL) I also need my Mlps MN. office to be able to connect but they do not see the host, or any host for that matter. They go into the " Specify Host" option, type in the IP address, but no host? What can be wrong? They have a DSL line from a small company called Vector in MN, using a Cisco 675 Modem/router. I have no idea what to tell the provider..... they have never herd of Filemaker Pro. How can I make this work? HELP!
Anatoli Posted August 23, 2001 Posted August 23, 2001 Tell the provider about the settings. Try ping and Traceroute to the IP.
