perhaps a really stupid problem:

FileMaker unlimited is online. Web companion is running ok. everything works over a browser.

But now we want to directly open the database with another filemaker via TCP/IP from another place via web.

By clicking "hosts" an putting the IP-Adress, no connection can be built.

A Ping works correctly.

Is there a solution :

Thank U

Make sure the file is set to Multi-User and that the network preference for the FM application is set to TCP/IP (you must restart after changing). If this doesn't work, the problem might be a firewall setup issue. You need to allow a different port through the firewall for direct FM access.-bd

Works here OK. Firewall settings is a must! Search IANA database for FM ports...

Heya,

I've got the exact same problem, however I am not using a Firewall, so why won't it get thru?

Win2k Pro running an unlim client which is hosting the DBs and Website...

I have a similar problem.

I have win2k running a firewall with port 5003 TCP mapped and UDP mapped. On the PC side I have FMP Server 5 running and I can connect from inside or outside the network from other PC's running FMP 5. On the Mac side I have FMPro 4.1v3 serving out to the local just fine but when trying to connect from outside the network (using FMP 4) I cannot see any hosted databases. But mind you the PC running server works just fine. And they are on the same network.

I know to check TCP/ IP properties and the other obvious things. Were there some issues with 4 I am not aware of?
