Vertical Header and Sliding

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have reproduced a letterhead which consists of the company's logo and address going down the right hand side of the page (there is content from the top to the bottom).  I have done this with a combination of text and images, and container fields (containing a blank image for when the header is not required).  I also made the entire layout A4 (including length) in Layout view.

The other thing I had to do is expand the main line item description field (in the Body part) to 457px, with sliding up enabled.

The problem is that sliding doesn't seem to work if the layout is longer than around 739 pixels, and my layout is around 810.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Issue resolved by just shortening the length of the layout (had to fiddle with the object to get them to stretch along the whole length of the page though).

Or another way is to create a title footer which duplicates (or not) the normal footer.  This doesn't affect the 739 pixels limit I was on about.

Actually I think the whole issue was caused by the fact that the objects above/below the body did not have sliding up enabled  :hmm:

"Fiddling with", is an important FileMaker tool or skill.  :hair:

I am afraid this is a mis-assumption.  Items outside of a part do not need to have sliding on for a specific part to slide - only objects within the part with the fields which need to reduce.  I tell you because I don't want you to go through the rest of your FM career always making everything slide when it is a waste of effort.  I'm glad you worked it out. :laugh2:

Indeed, Lee, fiddling is a part of FM, particularly reporting which FM should really spend more time improving (crosstabs, side-panels etc).
