benmayo
Dear FileMakers, I'm trying to create a single button with three different states, through which the user can toggle. I've completed the following tutorial: http://www.filemaker.com/11help/html/fmpa_tools.24.23.html ...and have the button with it's three different colours toggling nicely. Where I'm stuck is attaching a value to the different states. How do I get the button to output values (1, 2 and 3) into a field? Thanks in advance, Ben
Lee Smith
Hi Ben, and welcome to the Forums The State of a button, i.e., In Focus, Hover and Pressed, has nothing to do with the script. Look at Show Custom Dialog. Lee
benmayo
Thanks Lee, very helpful. As a first poster, it's great to get a response from the man whose contributions to this forum have helped me so many times. Ben
benmayo
Hi Lee, I think I may have confused the situation with my incorrect terminology. What I'm trying to achieve: On the first click of the button, the value in the field is 1 On the second click, the value in the field is 2 And so on... I'm not trying to make the button change shape as I hover over it. Thanks for your help. Ben

Lee Smith
I looked at Doug's file, and I don't think that is what your are asking for. IIUC, you are wanting to move from field to field? Ir so, what is the purpose or criteria? Did you want the user to interact with it? i.e. option one, option two, option three? Lee
benmayo
Hi Lee, Doug, My fault for not being clear in my explanation and causing confusion - but Doug hit the nail right on the head. Thanks so much for going to the trouble of making that up for me. The user selects ok / not ok / not available. The field with the number is hidden, they just simply use the colours.
