Alphabetic Sorting within Portal not working

Hi Everyone,

I am having a problem with my Events Registration. I hope someone has a suggestion and thank you in advance!

Whenever we register guests for an event, we sometimes put in duplicate names as temporary placeholders. For example, if someone buys 5 tickets but hasn't given us the names of all the guests. Once we get the names, we change the guest records accordingly. Unfortunately, the guest list (Guest Tab) won't sort properly (alphabetically by last name) based on the updated guests (see portal row 2 on the sample attached). The same problem occurs if you add a new contact from this portal, using the green + sign.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

With much appreciation,

Debbie

Yes, that works for the alphabetizing of the last name, but then what happens is the data that belongs with the Events_EventsGuests, such as status, name on badge, amount paid, etc. is the same for all guests.  Is my Table Relationship screwed up?

Dear efen and all who took a look at my problem:

After more work I believe I have the solution.  Here is what I did:

1.  First, I changed the Events_EventsGuests::Last_Name field to a lookup instead of a calculated field.  It looks up the Name_Last from the Contacts Table.

2.  Then, I added a new button on the Guests tab that says 'Refresh'.  The script attached to it is a one-lline 'Relookup Field Contents [No dialog; Events_EventsGuests::kf_ID_Contact]

The same thing could be accomplished by clicking into the Full Name field on the Guest tab and then selecting Relookup Field Contents from the Events menu, but I think my users will be able to handle a refresh button.

Thank you to any of you who looked at this, I really appreciate this site!

Debbie
