borders and shading not showing

Seems to be restricted to a particular file but borders and text shading only shows when a record is selected and doesnt print. Maybe I have done something odd? cheers

That is normal and is a new feature of 12.

 

It is controlled in Layout Setup, by whether you have set the checkbox "Delineate fields on current record only"
