James Gill Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I've recently been working on a new project with some massive scripts (1,000+ lines) and I'm having issues when it comes to organizing those scripts into readable chunks. I just ran across the excellent TextMate Filemaker Bundle on the BeezWax blog (http://buzz.beezwax.net/2011/07/30/the-filemaker-ninjas-toolbelt-textmate-bundle) but unfortunately it only applies to the Calculation Engine and not to the Script Editor. I'm aware of the FM Pro Script Diff product, but what other tools are out there that would allow me more control over how scripts steps are displayed?
Rick Whitelaw Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Not having seen your scripts I'm not in a position to evaluate them. A script with a thousand lines is a long one indeed. Every once in a while I revisit a long script and try to simplify it with whatever new knowledge I may have acquired. The same goes for calculations. I've found ways to reduce a calculation with 50+ lines down to a dozen. One way to make a script seem more readable is to comment the script, perhaps in bold. This provides visual cues as well as signposts that could be valuable in the future, say long after you wrote the script.
Wim Decorte Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 the only thing that comes somewhat close is https://www.mbsplugins.eu/component_SyntaxColoring.shtml
