I needed to download a file from FMS 12 to a local machine today. I closed it and started the download. A few moments later I got a message that the console had lost its connection to the server, and then it crashed.

When I bring the console back up that file is marked 'exclusive' and I can not do anything with it. I can not change the status. It is stuck. I tried going to the server machine and restarting the console from the command prompt, but that did not change anything.

  Any ideas are appreciated.

usually an "fmsadmin restart adminserver" from the command fixes that issue.  Did you get an error when you tried that command?

Try killing the Java admin console? Did you try rebooting your machine? You may need to go to a back up if the file is corrupted.

Thanks, guys.  I did try the "fmsadmin restart adminserver" method and did not get an error. I have gone to a backup file already. What's the best way to get rid of the old one if the admin console won't let me remove it?

when you stop the database engine (either from the console or from the command line) you can then safely swap out the file using the OS (Windows Explorer / Finder ).
