I took over an FM12 database and found a button ( see enclosed attachment ), when in layout mode, with a blue line down the left side and was wondering if someone could tell me what it is?  I could not find anything in the help.

That shows the angle of the gradient. Open Inspector and look at the Appearance tab.

    The line with the blue handles indicates the direction of the gradient background fill for the object.
