September 13, 201312 yr Hi All HELP PLEASE I am missing something here I have filemaker server 12 installed in windows and I have the database with odbc query sql server and on everything works nice on the server side when I open the Filemaker Advanced 12 odbc works fine. and when I chose the import script step and double click the ODBC connection list is there with all of my connections. Inside the company when I go to other workstation I open Filemaker Advanced 12 then I select open remote chose the the database from the server It opens fine I go to file Manage External Data Sources and I have all the ODBC connnections here too. When I start doing a script Like Import and double click it there isn't any off the connections available. And it happens on Mac workstation and even on PC workstations. Yes I have the server check odbc connection Yes I have the file privillige set to allow odbc connection. Please Help Thanks Walter
September 13, 201312 yr The DSNs that you see listed for "manage external data sources" are the ones that are available from the server for the ESS feature. When you create a script to do an ODBC import you can not use the server's DSNs. You have to create a DSN on the workstation that will require to run the import. The same applies to the "Execute SQL" script step. Both are workstation specific. Only the ESS feature can use the server's DSNs.
September 13, 201312 yr Walter, Perhaps you can create scripts that'll be run by a server schedule for your imports? Or, use ESS and skip importing entirely. -Barbara
