falkaholic Posted February 19, 2002 Posted February 19, 2002 The use will be the have ppl with laptops on a concert tour. The will be a databae for dates and times etc, which change frequently and need to be tracked from "home base."
andygaunt Posted February 19, 2002 Posted February 19, 2002 Eric, is that 1 database then? How many fields are we talking? How many records (average) might change and how regularly? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get a better fix on this. quote: Originally posted by eric f: The use will be the have ppl with laptops on a concert tour. falkaholic Posted February 20, 2002 Author Posted February 20, 2002 I'm i'm trying to find if it is even possible to do this with FileMaker: The need is to have multiple users on the road that have to make changes to a database offline, and the next time they have a network correction, it have to sync up to a master database. As well, it should (but doesn't have to be) cross platform, could even be palm if need be. The only ways the are possible that I can think of are: -$50,000 plug in -insane scripting with repeating fields, cacheing changes then somehow transmitting it to the master. -make my own plug in -looking into the palm version (i'm thinking cuz palms are never online 24/7, so they might already have this ability) ideas?
andygaunt Posted February 20, 2002 Posted February 20, 2002 Eric, I see you have seen Syncdek. Filemaker mobile for palm is available. Single user database sync only. Non relational. Currently 20 fields (but see their website for new details on Mobile 2). What are the database(s) you are thinking of doing this with? quote: Originally posted by eric f: I'm i'm trying to find if it is even possible to do this with FileMaker: The need is to have multiple users on the road that have to make changes to a database offline, and the next time they have a network correction, it have to sync up to a master database.
