Barry685 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 On a win7 pc I have opened an Fm12 file. Sharing is on, and I have network access set to all users. The "Don't display in open remote dialog" is unchecked. When I use the open remote command from a client PC, I do see the IP address of the host, but it doesn't display the fm12 file I am trying to open. I know the network is operating properly, because I can access the folder on the host computer from the client. I can even run the FM file from the client without using the open remote command.
Fitch Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 If I understand that last sentence -- don't do that!!! If multiple people are opening a FileMaker file that's in a shared folder, you will corrupt the file. ALWAYS use FileMaker's Open Remote command for sharing a file. You should turn off file sharing for the folder that contains the file. Check your privilege sets in the security settings, and make sure "Access via FileMaker Network" is enabled.
RodM Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 You are running a different Filemaker license one 2nd or client computer .. just asking? Your inside your Router? not certain makes difference. Set its File/Share on too?
