Replacing Filemaker Icons

Featured Replies

I don't know if this topic belongs here or elsewhere. I want to replace the FM icon on my solution files with one of my own design. Since they aren't EXEs, most of the common hacker programs quit immediately. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

Get a Mac.

A bit flip, but on a Mac it's easy to replace icons. Just get info, and the icon is available.

On Windows, it's probably a lot harder, but then many things are.

More than a bit flip...not everyone wants to live in a Mac world. Why should I limit myself to less than one-tenth of the market?

I only go to Windows when I absolutely have to, but I think that you can change the icons on Windows fairly easily. Can't you select properties once an icon is select in a window and from there change the icon? I seem to remember something like this as possible. You would need an .icn file (I think) to select at this point that has the icon graphic you want to use.

Thanks Chuck, but that doesn't really do it. What you suggest will change the icon on the desktop (an .ico file). I want to change all the icons in the bound executable.

danjacoby: Why is it that when someone asks a PC-related question, you keep pushing the Mac as the answer? As developers, most of us here are aware of the capabilities of both platforms, and are looking for answers, not a sales pitch. I don't have anything against the Mac, but if you don't have the answer to a question, maybe rethink posting a reply... just a thought.
