Beginner FileMaker Go sync question

Featured Replies

I want to use FileMaker Go in a very simple way.  I want to occasionally edit my records from my mobile device.  I do not need complicated hosting where I can update simultaneously.  I just want to be able to sometimes send my database to my iPad or iPhone, edit a bunch of stuff there, then send it back to my computer (or, if needed, somewhere in the cloud if that is a better solution).  But this is just for my personal home management, so I do not want to pay for a hosting service.  I have figured out how to get the file to my phone via dropbox, but it doesn't seem to work well to get the database back to dropbox.

What is the best way to do this?  Can Dropbox work?  Email?  Help!

Thank you in advance!

Amy

Amy,

Welcome to the forums, here is the link to the guide for creating a sync operation:

Using Dropbox should only be a vehicle for moving files TO the iOS device - you should move the database local to your computer when modifying your solution, and Dropbox can corrupt an open file.

Sending the database via email is another way to move database.

Or you could tether your device to iTunes and move the files directly.

Just use iTunes to manually move it from device to device.

DiskAid is a nicer option than iTunes. It's free and it works over wifi.
