Newbies avery Posted June 15, 2001 Newbies Posted June 15, 2001 Does anyone know how to get this link to function properly? HTTP://thehost.com/FMPro?-Db=MyDatabase.fp5&-DbOpen I am trying to open a database via a browser window and can not get it to work! I got this example from FM.com and have tried to configure it numerous ways with the database in the Web folder. The darn thing just won't work... what the heck am I doing wrong? HELLLLLLLLLP! Frustrated
MeltDown Posted June 15, 2001 Posted June 15, 2001 I haven't used this, but the FileMaker Pro CDML reference states -format is required. Try changing your string to add -format, as in: HTTP://thehost.com/FMPro?-Db=MyDatabase.fp5&-format=MyPage.htm&-DbOpen Hope this helps! Anatoli Posted June 15, 2001 Posted June 15, 2001 IMHO -- it is better to start db via script from other folder, than WEB. All items in web folder are visible on Internet.
Vaughan Posted June 18, 2001 Posted June 18, 2001 I seem to remember (might be mistaken) that around 5.0v3 FileMaker Inc considered this CDML tag and a few others to be a security risk and removed them from Web Companion.
Keith M. Davie Posted June 18, 2001 Posted June 18, 2001 According to the cdml reference, the action tag is correctly syntaxed as -dbopen, not -open. Essentially any action tag will open a db.
John May - Point In Space Posted June 19, 2001 Posted June 19, 2001 We did a custom solution for our hosting service, which we call our Database Manager, that lets users backup and update their databases on our servers remotely. It is all done with AppleScript, fed off a master Filemaker DB containing a list of filenames, etc. If anyone would like copies of some of the scripts as examples in constructing your own, feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]. - John
