Newbies Safari-ID Posted August 27, 2014 Newbies Posted August 27, 2014 Developing with FM 13 advanced is fun Hosting on FileMaker Server is wonderful Accessing with Filemaker Go is exciting Trying to Deploy a FileMaker solution to Go users Is impossibly Impossible. The engineers at FileMaker Dropped the ball It's a iOS issue excuse. Bull Turkey. Until there is a FileMaker App Store Or a FileMaker Go Lite that can be configured With the FileMaker Host imbedded and can be uploaded to the AppStore or something We are stuck like Chuck Hopefully Apple will come to the rescue With iOS 8 Please and soon
jbante Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Can you be more specific about the difficulty you're having? Plenty of us on the forum have deployed plenty of applications to FileMaker Go, and may have found ways to cope with whatever problem you're running into. However much of a pain in the butt in can seem, deploying a FileMaker Go solution is a whole lot easier than deploying to the iOS App Store.
Rgordon Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I have over 1000 FMGO users and have never had a problem deploying fmgo solutions. Installations and updates are fairly easy to do. I personally have little interest in putting my solutions on the App Store.
Newbies Safari-ID Posted August 28, 2014 Author Newbies Posted August 28, 2014 I have a FileMaker database hosted My issue is I have stores that would like to Have access to the database I want them to have a place to download A configuration file that has the FMP URL to the host. I read somewhere I could build a app And all the so does is Hyperlink when touched to the FMP URL After downloading fm go
jbante Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 It sounds like you're describing the FileMaker Go App Maker (free TechNet membership required). The "App Maker" doesn't really make an app, just an iOS profile with a link into FileMaker Go that appears to iOS users as a home screen icon, like when you save a bookmark from iOS Safari to the home screen. Apple also has an iOS configuration utility that should enable you to accomplish the same thing. To get the profile on to your users' devices, you have to either email it to them, send them to a web page for them to download it, plug the devices into a computer and load it directly, or register the devices with an MDM service and push it to them.
Newbies FileMakerSonderbach Posted October 11, 2014 Newbies Posted October 11, 2014 Hello, I have the same problem: I now have a nice solution working on FileMaker Pro, but how can I deploy this to friends, business partners, customers? Its odd that my possible customers do have to go through several steps: - download filemaker go from app store - download my FM file - transfer per iTunes to device Is there a better way? Thanks! best regards, Ralf
Rick Whitelaw Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 There is a better way. Host the file on FMS. Customer downloads FM Go and connects to the hosted file. That way there's no need to send out updates every time your solution changes, no iTunes, no sync.
