arealink Posted July 14, 2001 Posted July 14, 2001 Does anyone know for certain which is the more taxing on the system and filemaker when going from one page to another? Using thte -recid and -edit, or if I'm carrying around the orderID as the 'token and using orderID and -find. They both allow thte same effect, but I would rather use the one that doesn't tax filemaker. We just put up a FM site for a large company who sent emails to approx. 200 employees telling them what time it would be live,,, YEP... within ten minutes filemaker stopped responding, files had to be recovered. This went on for nearly three hours until the people on the east coast went home for the day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I imagine the single-thread thing in unlimited is what caused the crashing, but until 5.5u, I'm not sure what to do other than set up a RAIC, but come on, for only 200 users hitting filemaker...Thanks.
Anatoli Posted July 14, 2001 Posted July 14, 2001 You have some system problem. Even 100 times bigger traffic is not crashing FM. Our installations are running 2 years without single crash. Going to the record is faster, than -find. [ July 14, 2001: Message edited by: Anatoli ]
