Hello,

I am new to filemaker and have been using it for about three weeks now. I have previously used it as an end user but this is my first time creating databases.

I am currently creating a inventory database for film equipment to be check in and out of the office I work at. The inventory has all been logged in the database and that is all set up. My question comes from when I try to create a "Contract" table that will use a portal to line items, with reference to the inventory, it does not complete the rest of the fields in the portal. So I can type in the Barcode of an item, but the item name field remains blank, as well as the notes field. I believe the relationships are set correctly, but I could be wrong. I do have the "contracts" successfully related to the contacts table and they work together well, allowing me to create multiple contracts for one person and seeing the relationships through a portal. I have attached my current relationships diagram if that is helpful. Please let me know if you have any solutions or ideas for this problem.

If you want data in the Mindfile_Line_Items::Item field...you need to put it there somehow. It won't just appear.

With that said, do you want/need to have an "Item" field in the Mindfile_Line_Items table? Is that something you need to store separately?  If the answer is no, you can just show the field from the Mindfile_Inventory::Item field ( just make sure you can't edit it directly from the Mindfile_Line_Items table.
