sub-summary totals

Featured Replies

I have a report that is sorted by drivers names and I'd like to have a total amount for each driver a page break and then the next driver with a total amount etc... I can only seem to get a Total for the whole report adding all drivers. Whats the magic to get total on sub-summary fields?

On a second note I am having a wierd problem with page numbers where every page is 1. I checked the footer and the retart page number after each occurance is not checked. This should be a no brainer as it works in other reports properly.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Put a summary field (= Total of Amount) in the Subsummary section or create a Subsummary section broken by driver to be printed below the body

I've tried both of these things but nothing show up! And it will not allow me to put a calculated field in a sub-summary section???

Try these:

1. Make sure you are definitely sorted as required

2. The sub-summary section must also be set to be sorted in the same way

3. Calc fields won't work in a sub-summary, you must use a summary field. Define it as a "Total of..". If you don't use a summary field then you get the content for the first record in the reporting set

You seem to have created a calc field that is evaluating the total, when FMP can actually do this for you when it comes to the report if you use point 3.

To maintain a correct "Total of" as acalculation, then you must use the GetSummary function as you are only totalising a section of the file, and the file must be sorted as required for it to work correctly.

Also remember that the subsummary information will only appear when you are in preview mode or when you print the report.

Hello Mark,

When I try to use a Summary field in the sub-summary area I get this pop up message. " The field you select cannot be a summary field, a global field or any field of type container" This is wierd?

Please advise

Thanks
