January 5, 201610 yr I am trying to install FMS 14.0.4 update to my local development FMS 14.0.2 system. I have closed all databases and turned off FileMaker Server 14 in the admin console. When I run the updater, I get a dialog "This update cannot be installed while FileMaker Server is still running. Please stop FileMaker Server and try again." What else do I need to turn off to install the update?
January 6, 201610 yr Strange one. What I would try (off the top of my head) is turn on FMS, then turn off the "automatically restart FMS after power failure" (or whatever it is . . . Not at a computer) then close all hosted files, turn off FMS then restart the machine. Then run the installer again. My 2 cents, Rick.
January 6, 201610 yr turning off the components in the admin console does not stop the underlying FMS daemon. Try: sudo launchctl stop com.filemaker.fms
January 7, 201610 yr Author Thanks, Wim, that got me over THAT hurdle. After that, the updater started and hung up. I ended up downloading and reinstalling FMS 14, and I'm back in action. I wonder if the problem with the hangup was due to my FDS Subscriber key?
January 7, 201610 yr I doubt it. There have been many reported problems with updating from v1/v2 to v4 and uninstalling and then installing the full version of v4 seems to be the easiest way of getting there.
