Hi

i have been using webdirect for my clients for the past few month now , worked ok at most times - (except when when web direct was down)

The solution has undergone a major redesign/redevelopment , basically just layout changed and a couple more tables added.

it was finally working great and was all in order imported all records into it which were several thousands but unfortunatly when accessing it in web direct the system freezes after the second click , it lets me click once on any button then justs freezes.

Anypne ever experienced any of this , know of some bug webdirect has , or some limitation of something i used that could cause this to happen.

I can`t do it slowly because this redesign was work from a couple of month  , a solution with a load of tables and layouts.

i would appreciate if anyone could share there expereince with any of this because i just don`t know where to start debugging.

Hello H,

No, that is not normal behavior but you've provided no details about your setup nor the layouts so it isn't possible to diagnose.

  1. Any FIRST CLICK causes a crash?  Or only on the SECOND click?  If so, what is the click; does it run a script and if so, what is the script?
  2. Are you on the latest Updater for version 14?  Is it 14.0v6?  Are you using FMS and what is the version/updater?
  3. Is it a single layout which freezes or any layout or only upon initial opening?
  4. Are there popovers now when there weren't before?
  5. Have you tried just manually adding a few records to the file and see if it crashes then?
  6. What happens if you run a full Recover on the file, host the file and see if it crashes?  This is just for testing ... one never wants to use a recovered file.
  7. Has the file improperly crashed?
  8. How burdened with objects is the layout?  Are there heavy aggregate calculations on the layout?

      Hi all,

Is there any way of showing Google map in Webdirect? I need to show location of each record on Gogole Map using Webdirect.

      I appreciate any ideas.

Some of my users are having intermittent problems with my webdirect solution, and if it were 1 or 2, I would probably dismiss it as network error, but it's happening a little too frequently for my liking.
The symptom is that (even the simplest) layouts will start flashing, refreshing, and then we get the wheel of eternity. I have witnessed this myself on my phone when it is on WiFi, this will start happening... then I'll switch off WiFi and use the cellular network and it will work fine. I've also noticed on my phone that it happens more frequently with Safari than it does Chrome, but I've had it happen with both. I've seen several references to this on the web, but nothing that is concrete enough for me to find a fix. For one of my users, this happens on her laptop with a wired connection, at home and at work, in Chrome and on MS Edge.
My server(s) are hosted by Datatrium and the web server is separate from the FM data server.
Where should I start to troubleshoot this?
      As always, thanks in advance.

      Hi everyone,
currently I am looking into creating a very simple database for a cocktail competition for a spirits brand. The competitors are coming from markets all over the worlds, the local offices are submitting the recipies, images and some further information in my ideal world via webdirect into the database itself.
I dont think there need to be more then 2-3 users accessing that database simultaneously.
My question would be if anyone is experienced with filemaker hosters and the perfomance of that hosting when the db is accessed from different parts of the world.
In other words: where would be an ideal country for hosting the file (in terms of performance) if it were to be accessed from Europe, Japan, USA, Israel, China and South America?
      Please advise,
      Thank you.

      Hi,
Now in my FileMaker server,I have license for 100 concurrent connections( iPad/ iPhone/ Webdirect) which is the maximum limit in FileMaker. How can I increase the number of concurrent connections more than 100?
      http://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-server/server-14-specifications.html
Also please let me know the concept of multiple instance in FileMaker.
      Thanks in Advance.

After uploading your database to the server, how do you make changes to it?
I cannot find this explicitly stated anywhere, though I think I have figured it out through a process of elimination. But I wanted to make sure I've got this correct and understand any idiosyncrasies.
Do you just open the file from the server rather then the local copy? How does that work with a non-local server? If so, should I just go ahead and delete the local copy as it will no longer be relevant? Any tips or weirdnesses I should be aware of?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but a few decades of development experience tells me that editing the live version directly is a very bad idea, so I was looking everywhere else for a solution.
      Thanks,
      Brad
