  1. Is there another way to capture CDML Form content on a web page and send it via email other than CDML's -mailto -host et.:? I am collecting data in a form, but need it sent to a specific email address when it is submitted to the database. Thanks
  2. Thanks, I'll pass this information along to IT and see what happens.
  3. I have been using CDML -mailto -mailcc -mailformat etc.. to automatically send a work order request when it was added to a database. It worked fine until recently. I think the culprit is a new firewall that IT installed on the network, but I can't find any information about Filemaker, firewalls and the mailto function. Is there a port that needs activitated??? How can I tell. Thanks.
  4. Use Dreamweaver's "Attach Style sheet" function to write the code in the above post. Open your html file in Dreamweaver, be sure the "styles" window is available, then, in Design or Split mode, click in the Design mode panel. Clck on the pulldown menu for styles and select "Attach Style Sheet...". The resulting dialog box lets you browse to find the stylesheet you choose. One more thing..... be sure to UPLOAD the copy of the external stylesheet that you have attached. If you don't, the stylesheet is not seen by the files on the server because it is not there. While you are working on your local files (previewing, etc), your computer uses the local stylesheet as a reference. Stylesheets are not automatically uploaded when a file is "put" on the server. You must put the stylesheet file there yourself. Hope this helps. Dave
  5. I use FMP 6 unlimited on a dedicated MAC OS X server to server db's on the web and to also allow administrators throughout the school system to update information in order to lighten my workload. All our static pages reside on one server and the dynamic content on the second server using FMPro as the web server with the portal set to 80 (default for html websites). Access to db's is via html pages and CDML tags. It works very well and I'm very disappointed that FMP 7 no longer supports CDML tags. Be sure to keep clean unused copies of your db's and to back up frequently. Also, make sure you have the latest versions of Web Companion plugin installed. Earlier versions of Web Coompanion would sometimes 'freeze' and lock up the server.
  6. I create an administration page for those whom I want to edit database content. This Administration page lets me customize what features the content writers can have (add, delete, edit, etc.) and also allows me to provide online instrtuction help and hints for the novice users who know nothing about web publishing or even databases. The link to the administration pages is not 'live' and must be known by the users. Administrative users are provided user names and passwords to access the file. All others have no password/guest access with browse only enabled.
