Hello!

I have successfully setup a FM Server 5.5 which my co-workers in the office can access Filemaker DB using FM Pro 5.x in a workgroup environent.

Now, I am interested on how can I share this Filemaker DB using a web browser? and on the internet?

I understand base on the reading of other post on this forum.. u need to have a Filemaker 5.x unlimited with DB file open and use IWP or CWP.

Is there a way that I don't need to open the DB file using Filemaker 5.x unlimited but rather as a windows service running in a background similar to Filemaker Server v5.5 is doing?

If this is not possible? how can I automatically start a DB file using Filemaker 5.x unlimited without log-in to a Windows 2000 Server Edition.

I am planning to put the Filemaker 5.x unlimited on a Windows 2000 Server Edition System - dedicated database server and it would be helpful that I could run Filemaker 5.x unlimited and open the necessary DB file to be shared to the internet without log-in to Windows 2000 SE.

You need FMPro U to publish your DB's on the web ...... FMServer is a dataserver for FMPro clients only, as for opening DB's automatically when you start FMPro / boot the machine, there are posts here about this and info on filemaker.com

good luck

NB have a look at http://www.lassodev.com/lasso3/notes/FMLasso.html the FMPro stuff is towards the bottom of the document including opening databases on reboot / running FMPro as a service

I've read the article u mention on how run FMP as a windows service.

Can u give a more detailed procedure in running FMP as a windows service with example. I find it difficult to understand the procedure written in the artilcle from lasso to start FMP as a windows service especially when you edit the windows registry.

I would appreciate any help by giving detailed procedure and example in editing the windows registry such FMP will start as a service.
