Greetings,

I want to: connect FM server 5.5 to two FMU to web*/lasso.... to connect a RAIC to lasso.

From searching this and other lists I realise this can be done and it would appear that I need the WSC running with one of the FMU (ie not on same box as Lasso). OK. But how? The WSC install gives me some java files and a Web* plugin: can the java files be run alone (not via Web*)? I have tried MRJ Applet Runner but without any idea of even Step 1 here I am floundering.

Thanks for any help or pointers, apologies in advance if I have missed the blindingly obvious.

Which webserver are you using?

WSC comes with a plugin for your webserver. I know that FMPro WSC doesnt work with WebSTAR V.1 but comes with a bundle for OSX Apache and stuff for IIS, I haven't tried WSC with Lasso V because I am running WebSTAR V, but I can't see any reason why you couldn't set the IP address of your WSC machine (webserver) as a FMPro host in Lasso setup.

WSC will connect to WebSTAR 4.x and IIS (via a supplied plugin) and then to Lasso 3.6 (by setting the FMPro host in remote host to the IP of the webserver/WSC machine) but I never got it to work reliably for webSTAR... this probably had a lot to do with both classic's memory management (three apps on one machine) and Java support (or lack thereof wink.gif)

Ok here is how this must be done.

Filemaker 5.5 WSC must be used with Apache and OS X.

You will need 5 machines to run this correctly. (I said correctly) smile.gif

Machine 1. Os X - This machines has Filemaker WSC only on it. You need to have a seperate machine for this if you want the Raic to work properly. Config -Open System Preferences, Open Sharing, Turn On Web Sharing. Drop all Fm java files into Hard Drive: /library/webserver/documents.

Machine 2. Web Server with Lasso on it

Machine 3. FM Server

Machine 4 and 5. FM Unlimited and Os 9. OS X doesnt work for Raic

Part 2

Open your database(s) via host buttom on your Filemaker Unlimited machines.

Make sure you have web companion plug-in checked and in sharing you have web companion checked there also.

Now with this done go to your FM WSC machine and open your web browser. type in your machines IP Address and /FMPro?config for the WSC.

Example - 127.0.0.3/FMPro?config

Now Filemaker will ask you for a login and password. You need to enter your own here the first time and not forget it.

New I prefer to configure by Host.

Here you would type in the machines IP Address for each FM Unlimited machine.

Example - Host 127.0.0.3 Port 80 (if that is your FMU port number)

Then check the database. and repeat for each machine until all machines are added.

Now to Lasso - Part 3

In Lasso 5

Host name - Use your WSC machine IP address and port number

Example 127.0.0.1:80

This will find your databases. Once you have configured Lasso to your WSC machine you should be done.

After going through this I am not sure what version of each program you are talking about but I use the newest so I thought I would give you instructions for this since its hard to find. But remember FM 5.5 WSC only works with OS X and OS X only works with Lasso 5 so its a daisy chain of what works together.

Hope this helps
