October 2, 200223 yr OK I've got 20 artist calendars in 20 separate excel files. What I'd like to do is pull them all into 1 Filemaker file, each calendar being a layout in the file. Any way this can be done without reinventing the wheel?
October 2, 200223 yr If you talking about making an excel file into a filemaker one. It can't really be done. You could take a screen shot and paste in layout mode. Then add corresponding fields to the filemaker and put them were there cells were. Then import the data from the excel file. Thats the best oyu can do.
October 2, 200223 yr Author I work for a booking agency. We represent musicians (Artists). We keep a calendar for each one in separate excel docs. I hope this explains what an "artist calendar" is. Does it help in answering my initial question in any way?
October 3, 200223 yr So each "calendar" is literally a listing of the booking for that particular artist? OK, you'll need to import each spreadsheet seperately, and once each on is imported you need to set the artist name or id or whatever for that set of records, then import the next spreadsheet. A layout is simply a way of looking at the data and is NOT comparable to a worksheet in Excel.
October 3, 200223 yr folkaholic: Whaddya mean, you can't make an Excel file into a Filemaker one??? That is soooo wrong! If the Excel file is set up as a database, i.e. each column being a separate "field" and each row being a separate "record", then all you have to do is drag the Excel file over the FMP icon and voil
October 4, 200223 yr Seems to me you want each artist calendar to be a separate RECORD in Filemaker, not a separate layout.
