I am sharing Database A through tcp and also publishing Database A to the web. I have learned that it is not a good idea to network and publish the same database so I have created a related Database B which is essentially a copy of Database A. Database A is being published to the web and Database B is being networked. Database A and B are related to two master databases: Clients and Employees.

The problem: I would like to have both databases be able to add new records to the database. I have so far been able to have Database B create new records in Database A, but have not been able to figure out how to have Database A create new records in Database B.

When I add a new record in the networked Database B, a new record is created in Database A. I would like online orders that are placed through Database A create a new record in Database B.

So far from all my research I have not found a reference to this problem and am hoping that the savvy FileMaker users in this forum will have the answer I am looking for.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh heck, if you have a database on the web, then make that the only version.

If you start messing around with all this other stuff, you're going to have constant problems. Simplify. Make the website the only database.

I would advocate a post process to add the records. Basically at some specified interval (say daily at 8:00pm) new records added to A are imported into B and new records in B are imported into A.

Obviously you could make the interval as often as you would like, but it is easier doing this than monkeying with the single record process.
