Hi all!

Should I bring up a web server, serving dynamic pages with lasso on a Mac OS 9.1 what version of FileMaker Pro would be the best?

One particular question: what does IP guest limit (preset to 10 on FM PRO) mean exactly. It seems impossible to have this kind of information.

Does it mean that not more than 10 unique IPs can access one of the databases on the server?

Does it mean that not more than 10 unique IPs can access the databases (one or more) on the server?

Does this unaccessibility regard simultaneous connections or connections over a specified period of time (e.g. 12 hours, 24 hours...)

What happens if one database (or more databases) is accessed by more than 10 unique IPs? Are they (the IPs) put on que or something else happens? (craches, deafness, sudden quits, etc. - I have heard and read so many different things about that). And again does it happen on simoultaneous connections or under a specified period of time.

Hope anyone can help me.

Best regards.

You'll generally want Filemaker Unlimited at whatever version matches the other versions of Filemaker that you are using. I will highly advise AGAINST using OS 9.1, go back to 9.04, I find this one to be much more stable for server purposes.

A normal copy of Filemaker can be access by 10 unique IPs in any 12 hr period. Any other that try will get an error. Filemaker Unlimited removes this limitation.

Thank you! Much more clear for me now.

To have a definitive knowledge about the matter of IPs when you say:

"A normal copy of Filemaker can be access by 10 unique IPs in any 12 hr period"

when does this "12 hr period" begin? When you install FMPro the first time; when the first IP access to a database is detected by FM; every time I quit FM and restart it; every time I restart the machine;

Please don't think I want to avoid buying FMPro unlimited, I just would like to know exactly how it works (and I'm a little bit curious too).

Many thanks to all.
