Hello,

Currently the web site has login, enter password and display people information (name, phone, etc) based on password. What would need to do then is to then after display comes up to be able to click on a button in any person line to do another search in db to display that persons entire record.

I have the thoughts to create a form around one field (say name) and pass that to do search but no idea as to how.

many thanks,

nati

Are you using IWP?

no, not using IWP. Maybe linkrecid but i am uncertain as to how this works.

I have forgotten to say that I would need to go to another file to see all details as the displayed information is in related. basically, can I grab the content of field and then when I in the search give the search value the field value?

So I have the displayed records, display field name is ID_1, value shows as 10.

then in the form say search in field ID_2, value = ID_1

Well that is explained in the CDML Reference Database. If you don't have that you should get it. Search in the CDML forum for a thread of that name. It provides a link.

"...need to go to another file,,,"

You may need to look at -InlineAction. You may need to look at -Token. You may need to reconsider your design.

And exactly what help is this I ask? I have too noted you often am short with those that know less than you do. I prefer you not to answer posts if you have nothing helpful to say. It is waste of time. I am very good tennis player but do not look down at "hackers" on the courts, even will help with instruction if they ask.

maybe you are good tennis player and I am hopeless, but I do not understand a bit from your question and why you do not understand Unable's advice. In fact I get more sense in your question after reading Unable's reply smile.gif

Nati, I was pointing you to areas where you might find help. Quite frankly you need to spend some time learning about CDML. Try reading the CDML Reference Database in its entirety.

If you need examples you can look in the Sample Files forum for several examples which developers have been gererous enough to make available for FREE.

This is going to require work on your part. I have tried to help by directing you. I have no intention of designing your solution or writing your code. You need to learn how to do that. If you are going to be successful, you are also going to need to learn how to think. Without knowing the material and the options, you won't stand a chance.

I am delighted that you have an interest and ability in sports. From your arrogant attitude I have no doubt you were a natural at tennis and understood the finesse of the the game before you ever stepped onto the court.

Here is one more piece of useful information for you, Developers try things.

"I prefer you not to answer posts if you have nothing helpful to say."

I have a lot to say which is helpful. You can rest assured that I will no longer respond to your requests for help.

Struggle, please.

I am available for paid work. I will never work for free. All my advises are just pointers to proper procedures and knowledge...
