Newbies catherineh Posted June 23, 2003 Newbies Posted June 23, 2003 Hi I am using the search and results CDML templates from FileMaker web tools with Adobe GoLive. At first, they worked perfectly. The next day, it couldn't find the 'results.html' format file. Now, it is not recognizing the form action 'fmpro' at all. Are my format files in the wrong folder or something? Thanks in advance, Catherine
Anatoli Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Your CDML files must be in folder Web in folder with FM application. HTH
Newbies catherineh Posted June 23, 2003 Author Newbies Posted June 23, 2003 They are... does it have something to do with GoLive?
Newbies phish Posted June 23, 2003 Newbies Posted June 23, 2003 hello dunno 'bout golive, but dreamweaver has had the habit of munging up cdml code. have you tried opening your html files in a text editor (like bbedit) to verify that the code is intact? hih steve
Leb i Sol Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 -but dreamweaver has had the habit of munging up cdml code -have you tried opening your html files in a text editor = DW has both capabilites....it does not "mungule" the code unless u use WYSIWYG little tooooo much and forget where your tags are....if they are in the table and you delete the table my best guess is that CMDL tags will be gone to GoLive is 'nice' but DW is muc more powerful 'developer tool' All the best!
Anatoli Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 RE: GoLive is 'nice' but DW is muc more powerful 'developer tool' If that is true then DW GUI can destroy any of that advantage. I was trying hard to switch to DW from GL, but what took me 5 minutes in GL was hour in DW. Steve Re-check the CDMl code. I never had such problem in GL 4-6.
Unable Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 It is discussions about inherent design problems of editing apps (FM's Web Tools, GoLive, DreamWeaver) such as the above which make me realize that my decision to learn HTML and eschew such apps was the right decision. Create a template and copy/paste/edit as needed. If there are then problems I know with whom I should converse to get resolution.
Leb i Sol Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 Anatoli: If that is true then DW GUI can destroy any of that advantage. I was trying hard to switch to DW from GL, but what took me 5 minutes in GL was hour in DW. -well, I guess it depends on each person...as I said using DW GUI.or WYS... can hurt u but if u work in slip view code/design u can see all the code begin generated and correct it as needed. There comes a point when one must use code only or, Of course, some code will scrabeled due to the fact ur inserting your own and then trying to use the native DW behaviors....after all it is just a programm not a programmer in a box BTW what was it that your tried to do in DW that took u an hour!?
Anatoli Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 RE: but if u work in slip view code/design u can see all the code begin generated Like in GL. What took me an hour? For example Table. If I want to select All text in cell, Ctrl-A is not working in DW. The whole table business in DW is crime. The whole DW interface was designed with simple goal -- to confuse me. MM succeeded 100%. The only thing which is excellent in DW is the source code editing.
Leb i Sol Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 I see "Ctrl-A is not working in DW" - selects the cell - double click the word to select it like in MSWord?! Tables are easy...click on table icon enter cells and row and then click-drag to set the size....it takes more to type this than to do it but...none of this really matters, everyone uses what "fits" them. Personally, I will trade GoLive for DW even it it was in Chinese All the best!

I was trying to modify existing tables Inserting/deleting rows etc. I cannot trade in the DW I had, it was complimentary copy from MM, somehow that nice company likes me, and it wouldn’t be nice from me to do that.
Leb i Sol Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 "I was trying to select ALL text in cell, no way by Ctrl-A standard." -click and dragg over the text I was trying to modify existing tables Inserting/deleting rows etc -select the table tag--> right-click Insert/Detete_Rows/Columns "...it was complimentary copy from MM" look at you MR.Desinger ...well it is good to know that there are "people with influence" in this forum. I remember the 1st time I strated DW ( UD v2 I think)...I looked at it...it had nice buttons...and I closed it. I started to apprechiate it when I did some ASP...it was a nice "code primer"..... but OK ...I will stop trying to "push you" into DW
Anatoli Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 RE: -click and dragg over the text Remember -- Power Users Don't Use Mouse RE: well it is good to know that there are "people with influence" Hihi, next time I will talk to FMI President, I will mention you as talented FM developer Yes, I am that nice
Leb i Sol Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 oooo LOL "Remember -- Power Users Don't Use Mouse " soooo....Administrators just look at the monitor and get things done? LOL this would make my job easy =Tab arround until u get to the cell...press and hold Shift and then use left-right Arrow keys to select text ~ Up and Down to select cell...NO Mouse "Hihi, next time I will talk to FMI President, I will mention you as talented FM developer " --who? me????LOL with 'A LOT' of experince under my belt.... Reged: 02/19/03 (clicked on FileMaker.exe) Posts: 437 ( mostly Q) -------------- perhaps "nosy and annoying developer" is better than "talented" LOL _____________________________________________________________________ * to SPAM this user click HERE

Leb i Sol Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 animal vs. pet depends how u treat it.....no guarantee that your pet can't turn on you! p.s. Ones, I found, in my hamster's house, plans that prove his intentions of rippinng of the Apple of their icons....so I guess this clears Bill G. and the whole WinDoooz Deal don't tell anyone, my hamster is still in hiding
