July 24, 200322 yr Anyone know how I can make my message box auto resize? I'm putting some 'help' buttons on my various layouts to aid users for the different functions. Each button has it's own script that's basically a 'show message' and the message. Some of my descriptions for the things are a tiny bit too long, and they hide the text unless you resize the box (which no one will think of doing). Any help is appreciated!
July 24, 200322 yr Hmmm, dont know about that. Have you thought of just having a seperate "Help" file, with different records for each topic? I believe it would be just as (if not more) easy and offer you a greater deal of control in the long run. Sorry I couldnt be of more help... -Raz
July 24, 200322 yr If you re-size them manually, they will retain that size (5.5 or later). But you will have to go to each computer and re-size because it is specific to that computer. That will take time. I agree to having a separate file for help. Or separate layouts, for that matter. Either that, or keep your explanations short! Ken
July 24, 200322 yr Agreed with Raz that you'd have benefit of an Help.fp5 file. Then, the corresponding instructions could be brought to the user in a portal appearing IF it needs to be (check the Visibility Trick), or/and a related calculation set with a scrowl bar either in the portal or hided somewhere on the layout. Or ultimately, a customized Message Box that you'd place where you want on the Layout depending on the help required. This one would involve as many new layout as there actuelly are, so would be rather tedious.

July 25, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the replys, guys. I guess a help file would be best. I just liked the message box because it was very quick (not only to create, but it doesn't take me to a different layout, less work/clicks for the user).
