bradford Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 I've been using FileMaker for years. HTML is a blind spot for me. Where can I get basic information to get started making my own webpages to use with Filemaker? I've created webpages with the default web templates with limited success. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
BuddySystems Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 My favorite book is "Database Publishing with Filemaker Pro on the Web" by Maria Langer. While it's a little outdated, it has great step-by-step examples for the beginner. You can get it at amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0201696657/qid=1063671174/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/002-3903172-6258419?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
Garry Claridge Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Some sample files exist in the "Samples Files" forum. All the best. Garry
Unable Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Langer's book also has a bit of disinformation. Be very careful. If you don't know HTML, get a book like Web Publisining with HTML in a Week. Otherwise you can learn how to use an app. designed as an HTML author. But you also then must learn what to do to work around the foibles of the such an app. DreamWeaver seems popular. But I've not used it. You can find working examples of CDML on the Sample Files forums. And the Internet Forums should be a daily read. Face it, no matter what you do you are looking at a learning curve. Give yourself some time in that regard. Don't stress. It will come.

That is absolutely best advice! The web is not that difficult. But it is intimidating. There is period where you gather plenty info, but it will be impossible to place all that info into proper place and see everything from correct angle and perspective.
