Problems accessing FMP-fields

Hello - its the first time i am using FMP 5 on the web. To test the CDML tools, i created a simple small DB. I am able to add and delete records but the display of the fields doesnt work. Instead of the "real" field data the i get the "[FMP-field:Name]" displayed in the textfield (i.e. for the field: Name). When i understand right, this tag should be translated to the real fieldvalue.

I checked all entrys on top (DB-Name, Rec etc.) with no result.

What is wrong?

Are you serving the page from WebCompanion? How do you call the page? Give us the URL, please.

This may be related to something I didn't "get" when I first started CDML. You won't (normally) see any field contents on the first page viewed by the web browser. You can only do some action on that page (like a find), the results of which are posted to another page (format file). On THAT page, CDML will display the contents of fields.

Hope that helps.

Ernie

And abnormally...?

RE: abnormally

LOL, Unable! He's just being careful about what he says cuz if he just said "you won't see [FMP-..] stuff on the first page", there'd be a number of folks telling him otherwise (META REFRESH, CDML-string URL's, etc.). Nice save, Ernie!

@ErnieG: It seems that you r right: i can see the fieldvalue after a "search" or other action. thx a lot.

Thanks for saving me from an explanation, Steve. Otherwise I'd have to confess to being so new to CDML that I haven't even tried an inline action (haven't needed one yet), which was one of the things I had in mind.

Glad it's working for you, Vogone. It should really start to click for you now.
