Online search returns unexpected results

Featured Replies

Hello Folks

I have an equipment booking database which users have browse permisions online. The user enters from and to dates to search the database to determine if the item is free for the dates required. This works fine if the search returns some records. However when the found set has '0' records the results page shows all records. The find is performed through a script as it is required to find a date range using the from and to dates provided.

Any ideas why this is happeing and can I get around it?

Regards

David

IWP or CWP?

Probably IWP. He said he is running the find through a Script. And he must not have an -error format file if no records are being found and he is getting the results format file.

Since a ScriptMaker script is not necessary to perform such a find, IWP is a safe inference of David's approach.

Should David decide that CWP is the way to go, he might find a discussion, if not an example, of searching a range on the web already exists on these forums.

Hi

Thanks for the responses. Excuse my ignorance but what is IWP and CWP?

Unable - I have downloaded your example and will have a look at it. Obviously my searches are not using the correct terminology. As you can probably tell I am a very much a part time File Maker.

Thanks again. I will post a reply and let you know how I go.

David

David,

IWP = Instant Web Publishing

CWP = Custom Web Publishing

With CWP you write your own pages. An advantage is that you can capture errors and take appropriate actions.

All the best.
