February 4, 200421 yr Newbies I've, obviously, missed the basics of FM4 printing. For years, I've tried to figure out how to cause a page break when writing on more than one page. This has to be so easy that I'll laugh all day when I hear the solution. Thanks
February 4, 200421 yr There is nothing to figure out. Make the body part of the layout bigger then one page, then set it and the fields on it to shrink with the Sliding/Printing feature. FMP will automatically start a new page when needed. If you want a "new page break" character like in MS Word, there isn't one. You can specify each record starts on a new page though; double-click on the Body part label to see the options.
February 22, 200421 yr Hi, BB! It ain't pretty, but I used to force page breaks by temporarily inserting blank records at key positions. I used to flag the records for easy deletion once the print job was done... just remember to SORT first and then add the blanks. --ST hmm.. I wonder if you could use Vaughan's collapsing part to use a single "SPACER" record with variable size rather than multiple records as I did. That way you could use just 1 record w/a bunch of CR / <BR> in an otherwise empty field to make that record extra tall. Oh, well... good luck!
