Mr.Morning Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 In our PO data base we have over 4000 files that have all switched to the same PO number. Is there any way that a script could get corrupted so that it would change all of these files? Or is there anyway that someone could have done a search and then a global find change? Is a global find change even possible?? I can not see someone manually changing 4000 files so somewhere this has to be a glitch. Does anyone have any idea how this could have of happened and how I can fix it from happening in the future? Thanks in advance, -Mr. Morning
Lee Smith Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 A simple Replace (Cmd = on a Mac, or Menu - Records - Replace Contents) can change all record in a found set, from the sequential numbers you had, to all the same number (the number would be the one displayed in the Replace Menu Box), Faster than you can say Oh - Sh_t what happen. As far as the right way to correct it, that would depend on a few other factors such as Relationships, Lookups, etc.. My guess would be that you could "Find all of the Records that have the error" and Replace with the Serial Number Option in the Replace Menu. HTH Lee

Ugo DI LUCA Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Mr Morning, Browsing back your latest 5 posts, I would say that you'd need to seriously rethink the way your users enter datas in your system... My 2 cents.
