May 23, 200421 yr Newbies I am an IT Trainer and happen to dabble in FM Pro. Went to a client earlier this week using FM4.1. I was asked how to enter characters with foreign character accents. They are using Macs and Version 4.1. I am a Windows user so unfortunately not sure of how to get Accents on Mac, There did not appear to be an option to insert symbols etc. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance Shelley
May 24, 200421 yr Accented characters entered in FileMaker are the same as any other Mac application - its an "option" key combination - for instance - option "e" and "e" equals
May 24, 200421 yr Author Newbies Thanks. I will pass this information on. As a PC user I was not sure how to get the characters on a MAC. Best wishes Shelley
May 24, 200421 yr Hi Shelley, Keith made a little typo, it's called Key Caps. If they Hit the ~ and the option key with Key Caps open, they will see the different keys that have accents. HTH Lee
May 24, 200421 yr So, for those Windows folks w/no access to a Mac to see, most of the time accents are made using a two-key keystroke combo (e.g. OPTION-E) followed by the letter you want the accent over (e.g. E). The basic ones are typically the letter keys most often associated with that type of accent (e = /, a = , i = ^, u = .. , and n = ~). Jose J o s option-e e Holding down the SHIFT key on the letter you want the accent for will typically even give you the capital letter with the accent. --ST
