July 30, 200421 yr Newbies I have noticed in FMP7 that creating a script doesn't seem to be an automatic action. In previous versions, once the root actions have been performed (i.e., page setup, sort, find, etc.) using Scriptmaker to set up a script would establish the necessary script steps to repeat the desired script. Not so in FMP7. Nothing seems to be recorded when creating a new script and I can't find the requisite actions in the scripting menu. Am I missing something or has Filemaker, Inc. left something out?
July 30, 200421 yr Try clicking Specify. Your most recently performed criteria will be there and you can select OK to 'Restore' it.
July 30, 200421 yr Author Newbies Thanks for your prompt reply. For the life of me, I can't seem to locate the specify selection you indicate in your message.
July 30, 200421 yr In the script definition, with the script step selected (find, sort, page setup), hit the Specify button on the lower right corner.
July 30, 200421 yr Author Newbies That's the problem. I don't see any script steps in the script window. Non are being created automatically when I clickto have a new script created. Any further thoughts?
July 30, 200421 yr You have to select the steps you want first. The default steps that were included in previous versions upon creation of a new script were not relevant to any manual steps you may have performed. They were just 'there' and many developers always removed them and were annoyed at the need to do so. I for one think it is much nicer to start with a blank slate.
July 30, 200421 yr You're right. None are created automatically. Hurray! Almost every time we had to delete them all anyway. They were NOT "recorded" actions. They were a fixed set of default actions.
July 30, 200421 yr Author Newbies I have had great success with the automatically generated steps. For instance, when you have sort, page setup and find, you only have to create a script to have the settings remembered. How do you establish the settings when you are building the scripts manually? Also, I was unable to find the find command in the script actions list.
July 30, 200421 yr You select the step manually and then click Specify. Perform Find is located under the Found Sets category.
