Is there any way around importing to multiple tables within a sigle database ? I know in Filemaker 7 you can only import to one table in a database file; however, i was wondering if there is a way around this ?

Thank for the help !

Hi Travis,

You can import to multiple tables. Just be sure you are ON the base table you are importing into first. And pay close attention to the popup at the top of the Import dialog box and be sure you are importing from the correct data source. smile.gif

I am having the exact same problem, but I dont understand the solution that LaRetta gave, when you say make sure you are "ON the base table" what does this mean I have to do?

Hi Kirsty,

With FM7, you must be on a layout based upon the table you are importing into. You can verify which table you're on by going to Layout > Layout Setup. wink.gif

sorry I am stuck again. After setting layout to show records from the correct table everything seemed to be fine...except now when I flick beteen the layouts they are not linked...ie I have a contact table and layout hich gives me persons name etc then I go to my interview layout and it is a different paersons record I am looking at. the two seemed to be working independantly. I checked teh relationships and I have all my tables linked via a unique id per person so they are all one-2-one relationships so I dont know why its doing this can you gave any advise?

You have to use Go to Related Record [show only related records; "yourrelationship"]. Simply switching between layouts won't do anything because a layout merely displays data from a particular table and works independently of any relationships, unless you specify it to do so using the GTRR script step.
