November 30, 200421 yr A co-worker of mine entered some data into a field for several records then did a find on that data (single word). No records were found. It is a shared database so she had me try on my machine. I found them with no problem. I thought she might be entering something wrong, so I watched as she did a find, and sure enough, no records were found. I had her close FM and re-open and then the find worked. This shouldn't have to be the solution. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? FYI- We have installed the latest 7v3 updates.
November 30, 200421 yr Showing all records should have no impact on a find. As soon as you enter Find Mode, the found set is ignored. I wonder if it is some odd byproduct of not committing records.
November 30, 200421 yr Hi JT, For a moment there, I thought something very basic had changed in v7. My first thought was that user had created the records in Find Mode, but deego55 has confirmed that they exist? I wonder if this can this be attributed to Access Privileges? Lee
November 30, 200421 yr Hi Lee. That's a good thought. Deego, are the Access Privileges the same for you and your coworker's login?
November 30, 200421 yr It is a shared database This may have nothing to do with it, but it needs to be asked: Are you using FileMaker Server to share the databases? Jerry
November 30, 200421 yr An additional thought. How are these finds being performed. Manually or Scripted? Lee
November 30, 200421 yr Author An additional thought. How are these finds being performed. Manually or Scripted? Lee The find is not in a script...just a simple manual find. Yes, we are hosting them on Filemaker Server 7. Also, the access privileges are exactly the same. I cannot think of why this would happen for the life of me.
December 6, 200421 yr Are you sure both users are really looking at the files on the server? Try using your operating system Find file feature to search for copies of the file. Note that if Server is set up right you should not be able to find ANY copies of the files this way.
