Import a list & create a script

Featured Replies

Hello Anybody,

I am a FM7 neophyte. I have database with a list of emails, some of which I have now discovered are wrong. I have a txt file with a list of emails that need to be erased. How can I import this list which FM7 will then search my databsae and erase the listed addresses? Even better, can I replace them automatically with another address?

Place the list of bad addresses in a value list. Call it "badAddys".

Script "Dump Bad Addys" =

Show All Records

Go to Record/Request [First]

Loop

If [ PatternCount ( ValueListItems ( get(filename); "badAddys" ); database::emailField ) > 0 ]

Set Field [ database::emailField ; "" ]

Exit Loop If [ get (RecordNumber) = get (FoundCount) ]

Go To Record/Request [Next]

End Loop

You could also paste/import them into a global text field, create a relationship from the global to your address field, and use Go to Related Record [show only related; "yourRelationship"], then run a Set Field loop or Replace Field Contents with "" as the calculated result.
