Plugin for keyboard shortcut

Featured Replies

Thank you

Henry

If you can upgrade to Filemaker 8 Advanced, you can have custom menus and keyboard shortcuts for your scripts. Otherwise, you can use Dacons Menu control or Menu Magic.

The shortcuts for FM is using 2 keys. For example "Ctrl + 1". Currently what i need is just press one key. Press "1" to perform a script.

Henry

At this case how you can put "1" to your text field?

that one is just my example. Actually i want to use it for function key (F1...F12) and some other character like "=" or "-".

It is useful for some system like Point of Sale.

Henry

I don't know about FM8A, since I don't have it yet, but I know that you can use dacons menu control to set function keys as shortcuts.

Well, not really. Neither Dacons Menu Control nor Secure Menu work with v8 as yet. Neither vendor will commit to a time frame, given how complicated custom menus are. And Filemaker's attempt IMHO is pretty close to useless.

Other than the Exit command being not removable, is there anything else bad about FM8A menus? I can live with that problem...

I've spoken to a number of plug-in developers about this. More people need to speak up and request this tool. It's one that I just don't understand why it doesn't exist.

QuickKeys on the Mac is handy for this, as well as iKey. I imagine there is something similar for Windows. I have a little more info here:
