October 18, 200520 yr On two separate occasions I have tried to log in using the full access account name and password that I created and it has mysteriously gone back to the generic "Admin" that is automatically created for the file. When I created my full access information I highlighted the existing generic "Admin" account and clicked Edit... From there I changed it to Admin_Developer and created my password. Twice now in the same file I have tried to log in using my information and a box comes up saying that my username/password can not be used to access this file. It scares the hell out of me for a couple seconds and then I try the plain Admin/no password combo and I get in. Is there any reason that this is happening. Should I just delete the generic and actually create my log in instead of editing the generic one? Help greatly appreciated. [color:green]Thanks, Dana
October 18, 200520 yr Strange. If you change the generic Admin user name then Admin shouldnt work I would assume. Passwords are case sensitive. Have you check that?
October 18, 200520 yr Author Yeah it's the weirdest thing. I had logged in and used this file earlier this morning using "Admin_Developer" password. I tried to get back in it this afternoon and it was like it reset itself. My settings were gone and it was back to "Admin". I am the only one who has access at this point and I created "Admin_Developer" 4 weeks ago.
October 19, 200520 yr I'd agree this is a bit odd to say the least. Check in File Options to be sure that some sort of auto log-on isn't occurring. Steven -->pondering this.
October 19, 200520 yr Is it possible that you are unknowingly working on a copy of the database from an earlier time?
October 20, 200520 yr Author Steven, I am positive that there is no auto log-on. Ted, I have created this database from scratch. Both times that it happened, I was away from my computer and it was unlocked. Now I am not a paranoid person but one individual was very irritated when I was given this job. So, I have begun locking my computer anytime I step away, even if just for a couple seconds. I guess only time will tell if that is enough to fix the problem.
November 1, 200520 yr Not sure if this is related, but I've had some account passwords mysteriously reset. Sounds like it could be related. One user notified me that her password had changed. She insists that she did not change it, and the privilege set that she's a part of does not allow users to change their own passwords. I scratched my head, shrugged, then went in and reset her account password - everything back to normal. Didn't think much of it at the time, but this post brought it to mind. Maybe if this is a bug, and the same behavior is exhibited on a default account, it also resets the account name. Sorry I don't have any insight, but at least this is a confirmation that somebody else has experienced similar issues. BTW, I'm running FM7 (Mac & PC mixed) and the database is hosted on Server 7.
November 3, 200520 yr Hmm I too have had this. Set up a password, gave the user access to change it. They swear they didn't, but the password re-set itself??? That was FM7 or Server 7
