Hello,

I have just started a job working for a company that are using filemaker 5.5. I need to learn filemaker 5.5 quickly. I have been looking for tutorials on google all evening but cannot find anything. Can anyone please put me in the right direction.

I have a lot of experience with PHP and MySQL, so if that helps now you know :)

All advice appreciated.

Thanks,

RF

I believe there was pretty decent tutorials / documentation that came with it. Its been a while since I used FM5.

Here are some links that I can think of.

Fenton has a FM101on his website.

Version 5.x put the example and tutorial files in the same folder as the application on the hard drive.

There are quite a few sites that have files available, and you can buy some excellent books about how to with FileMaker on, Amazon.com and Ebay. Check out the FileMaker Resource Topic Area, where I'll be moving this one to in a few minutes, for additional recommendations on some proven resources.

RadioactiveFrog:

I've got a set of FileMaker 5 manuals which I was planning on selling on eBay:

Special Edition Using FileMaker Pro 5 (with disc)

FileMaker Pro 5 Bible (disc missing)

FileMaker Pro 5 Visual Quickstart Guide

If you're interested, let me know.

I would seriously (very seriously) consider starting with Filemaker 8 Advanced. There is a world of difference between 5.5 and 8, and if you have to learn and use FM, it may as well be the lastest version.

The cost of upgrading is minor when considering all its features.

RF:

If you're still looking for FileMaker 5/6 manuals, I just listed a number of them on eBay at $1 each.

For anyone else who is interested, I also listed a couple of FileMaker 7 manuals.
