February 7, 200620 yr I have 2 fields 1) Date 2) Quarter I need the "Quarter" field to reflect the quarter of the date field. Any advice?
February 7, 200620 yr The calculation works for me, are you sure the date field is a "date" type filed? The calculation for 2/6/2006 returns 1 HTH Lee
February 7, 200620 yr It keeps coming up "1st Quarter 0001" no matter the date change. The result indicates that the referenced Date field is empty (and that the calculation is set to evaluate when all referenced fields are empty).
February 7, 200620 yr Author ...Nope. I have it set for date format, do not evaluate when reference fields are empty, date field is active with data.
February 7, 200620 yr Well, we could sit here and keep guessing what might be wrong, or you could attach your file...
February 7, 200620 yr It keeps coming up "1st Quarter 0001" no matter the date change. Sounds like you've set it as a date field instead of number field result.
February 7, 200620 yr Yes, that makes sense - and also raises the question why not format the Date field itself to display as "Nth Quarter XXXX" and be done?
February 8, 200620 yr Author I have tried all of that. Never get "1st quarter 2005" Since the zip is 2.5 megs and too large for uploading here. Here is the link. Link It is on the "State Mileage" form. Access thru the Master Navigator. Any help is appreciated. Edited February 8, 200620 yr by Guest
February 8, 200620 yr You are not supposed to get "1st quarter 2005". You are supposed to get either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. You will, if you set the result of the calculation to Number. If all you want is to display "1st quarter 2005", then duplicate the Date field on the layout, go to Format > Date..., select Custom and format it the same way you have formatted the Quarter field. You can then delete the Quarter field from your file - it's not needed.
February 8, 200620 yr Change the Field Type to NUMBER Go into layout mode and reformat the number as General, currently it is formated as dollars. Lee
