Xas Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Does .net work with FMP? FMP is XML, and so is .net, so why can't I find anything on the internet about this?
Wim Decorte Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Sure it works. FileMaker Server Advanced will give you an XML document when you hit it with the correct URL (see the FileMaker custom web publishing info on how to create the URL). For instance: http://testserver/fmi/xml/fmresultset.xml?-db=wim_MLB&-lay=list_franchises&-findall gives me an XML file of all the records in the "list_franchices" of my MLB file. In .NET you need to load the XML document and then you can parse it with the regular .NET classes. I'm working on a (potentially open source) project to create a .NET class that will do the parsing for you and will give back a regular .NET DataSet. If you know .NET, then all you need to figure out is how to construct the proper URL, and how to configure the files and FMSA so that they allow for XML access to the data.
