i have 10 files which belong to 2 groups. group A have 3 files and balance belong to group B. How to make when group B login they cannot see that 3 files and group A login they also cannot see those 7 files.

.. huh? do you mean filemaker files? or do you mean files stored within containers within a record within a table?

Files equals .fp7

Records = data within the File.

Since you posted this in Accounts..., I'm assuming you are taking about files, trying to set up access privileges for two separate groups.

You do this going to Menu >> Define >> Accounts & Privileges. Once a group has been assigned for each of the privileges, then you can control what each group can see and not see file wise.

If this isn't what you mean, then explain some more.

can u describe how to hide the unused files (fp7)from the unauthorised group

I am really confused, how are you "displaying" your files in the first place. I just want to grasp the concept.

If you were opening particular files by privelege set i could understand, you could just use an If[get(privelegesetname) = "xxx"]

open file 1

else

open file 2

end if

But, yeah i am really confused, could you explain a bit more please?

sorry Lee make u confuse..my english is not very well but i try to describe.

i have create more than 15 fp.8 files and those files were located at my G4 server. One of the files named 'Navigator'. I have almost 20 client PC within the contry. So i need to know how to make all the client PC when remote access from the server are only see the Navigator.fp.8 file.

at this case i need to make navigator.fp8 is the login page.
