I have a receipts journal created in Version 4 that recently crashed. I need to retrieve the data. Does anyone know someone that offers support for this version?

Have you tried to Recover the file yet?

It has been a while since I have used v4, but under the Main Menu, Files, there is an option Recover. Select this and then open the file through it's menu. If this does it, export a Text file of your data, then import that into a clean back up, or a newly created file.

I've tried recovering it, but haven't tried exporting. Thanks for the tip. Hope it works.

I don't hold much hope in you being able to export it.

You have to be able to open a file in order to export its data. If you can't get it to recover, then you can't get it to open. Kind of a catch 22. You might try creating a new file, and then importing the data from your old file into to it. However, I think you are up against a wall.

There used to be a service available, I think through FMI, but maybe somewhere else, that for a fee and proof of ownership, they would retrieve what was retrievable.

Sorry for the not so good news. I'll look back at my archives and see if I can find it. You might try a Google search for FileMaker Recovery Services or something and see what you can pull.
