Joseph31 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 How does one have defined feilds on different tables show the same information? Example: Table -- Main , Table -- Brokers On the main table I have a feild called Key_Code this works just how I would want this to work... But the problem comes in on the Brokers table... I need to have a feild on this page that sets its self to the main table code. I can not get this to work? Joseph
T-Square Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 You're not providing enough information. Depending on the circumstances, you can: 1) Use a relational structure and display the Key_Code from the Main table on the Brokers layout, 2) Use a lookup in the Brokers table to transfer the content of the Main table Key_Code to a Brokers field for it, or 3) Create a calculation in the Brokers table for the Key_Code David
Joseph31 Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Thank you for the ideas, I tried the lookup function but this does not work it shows a blank feild. Weird.. The relationship between the two pages is as follows: Policy_Page:PolicyId --->Premium_Page:Rel_PolicyID Can you give me anymore help? Thank you, Joseph
T-Square Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 You still need to provise more information to us. What are you trying to achieve? How is your system set up? You refer to two "pages"--are you referring to different layouts, or the Relationships? Are you trying to use a Go To Related Record command to navigate? What field is blank?
LaRetta Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Are you attempting to create related records? If you do so from the Premiums table, it won't happen by itself because, when you are standing in the Premiums table, a record without a PolicyID doesn't know which Policy it belongs to. When you say table code, do you mean this PolicyID?
Joseph31 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Sorry guys... Let me collect my thoughts and I will write something that makes sense... Give me a few min (Day or 2) and I will write down everything for you to help me (if that is even Posiable. Thank you. Joseph
bruceR Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 It would be a lot easier if you just go ahead and hire a developer.
Joseph31 Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Trust me I know... it is a question of money. I will am am sure one day if it grows much larger. But for now I just need a few more items and I think I will have something to build a company off of... then it will be time to hire someone when I know the systems that are needed. If you are intrested I will keep your name on file for this position? Joseph
